Our Story Begins Here
❊ About Us
Building fluency.
One word at a time.
Hi, I’m Cory - the founder of Yak English.
I’ve been teaching English for eight years, working with students from Japan, Brazil, France, South Korea and everywhere in between. I’ve taught for a living in South Korea, Canada, and the UK, as well as helping students learn online, and one thing I’ve seen again and again is this:
If you don’t use it, you lose it.
So many students wrote to me saying, “Cory, I forgot all my English,” or “I never speak anymore.” That’s why I started Yak English, with a mission to build an online English school that can fight fading fluency through conversation based learning. Even one focused hour of speaking in an English class each week makes a huge difference in language retention and potential.
My dream is simple: to help you keep your English alive and growing so you can reach your goals, whether that’s landing a new job, getting into university, travelling confidently, or just making new friends.
And because learning together is less stressful and more motivating, Yak English offers small online group classes that are loads of fun. The social element makes all the difference for learners like you,
I believe English is a gateway to the world, so let’s step through it together.
Loved by students. Worldwide.
Seriously! But don’t take our word for it, here are some things people have to say about us.
“I was elected as the best English speaker in my High School! It’s because you have taught me about intonation and casual vs. careful English – thanks!”
— Mirei, Japan 🇯🇵
“I learned more in 10 weeks with Cory than in 10 years in France. Unbelievable.”
— Johann, France 🇫🇷
“I studied English from elementary to high school in South Korea, but my level stayed at A1. I have ADHD, so it’s hard for me to concentrate for long periods. But strangely enough, when I’m in your classes, I can always focus 100%. Even though you don’t explain things in Korean, I can still understand perfectly – my English has improved a lot because of that.”
— Minji, South Korea 🇰🇷
