Hey! If you’re thinking of joining Yak English - this is the page for you. This handbook will tell you everything you need to know and what to expect before your first class.
🏫 What is Yak English?
Yak English is your online English school where English classes are fun, speaking-focused, interactive, and all about you. We keep groups super small (max 5 students!) so everyone has space to talk, connect, and grow. We also provide other English courses, including one-on-one classes, called Yak One, if you prefer individual tutoring. We work with all levels (A1-C2).
Why “Yak”?
So, here’s the deal: Yak has a double meaning.
Yak (verb)→ means to chat and talk a lot (that’s what we do in class!).
Yak the animal → a fluffy, strong mountain creature from the Himalayas. Yaks are known for their resilience, and strength in tough environments. Pretty much the perfect symbol for language learners pushing themselves higher every day!
🕒 Class Vibes
Time: 60 minutes (just enough to learn and chat without getting tired). Class times are the same every week. If you need flexible classes, talk to us!
Size: Small group classes - 1–6 students max.
Platform: Online on Google Meet — easy peasy.

⏰ Be on time (classes don’t run late if you are).
🤫 Choose a quiet space. No eating, driving, or chaos.
💬 Respect your English teacher + classmates.

📝 Bring pen + paper + notes = progress.
📚 Homework? Totally optional… but it helps you level up faster.
📂 Our Materials
All lessons, slides, and activities are created just for Yak students. They’re yours to enjoy, but please don’t share or record outside of class.
💻 Tech Check
Laptop or desktop = best experience.
Working mic 🎤 + camera 🎥 = must-have.
Camera on at all times so we can all connect.
A Google account isn’t required, but it’s handy.
💸 Payments
We accept Wise, Stripe and PayPal. We always try to invoice in your currency, so you don’t pay any extra fees.
If the currency is different to your card, your bank or card issuer might add a small fee. (Pro tip: travel cards often avoid these!) Yak English is not liable for any fees added by your bank or card.
No payment = no class link.
Late payments could mean losing your preferred spot, so best to pay early.

❌ Cancels & No-Shows
Regular attendance is important for your progress and for your classmates. Skipping class limits your progress and has weaker results long-term.
• For every 10 lessons purchased, you may cancel 1 class free of charge.
• To use this free cancellation, you must give at least 12 hours' notice.
• You may reschedule a class if you give at least 12 hours' notice and move it to another available class in the same week.
• If we cancel a class, you will always receive a replacement lesson.
• National holiday cancellations are allowed free of charge. Please inform your teacher of any national holiday dates before purchasing your lesson package.
✨ Loyalty Bonus
We reward students who continue learning with Yak English.
• Renew your lesson package before your next scheduled class. • Do not take a break between packages. • If you renew on time, you will receive 1 free bonus class.
🫂 Bring a Friend, Earn Rewards
Refer a new student → get 1 free class once they pay for 5 or more.
They also get a 5% discount on their package!
Unlimited referrals = unlimited free classes. Imagine this: if you bring 10 students to Yak, that’s 10 weeks of free education!
They must write your full name on their sign-up form (no retro-referrals, sorry).
🔒 Legal Stuff
Privacy: We keep your info safe (name, email, country, level). Never shared without your permission.
Under 18s:
Parent/guardian must give consent.
They remain responsible during lessons.
Any safeguarding worries → we’ll take action.
🚪 Leaving Yak English
You can stop anytime, but unused lessons aren’t refundable.
If we end your classes (rare), you’ll get a refund for any unused lessons.
⚡ Something to remember
We can’t promise exam scores, but we do promise fun + growth.
Unfortunately, we’re not responsible for your internet/device issues.
Our goal: keep learning safe, fair, and motivating for everyone.
