Yak English – Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) set out the rules for all students who take classes with Yak English. By signing up and making payment, you agree to these Terms.

 

1.    General Information

 

Yak English is an online English school providing group and private lessons.

2. Class Information

 

2.1 Class Size – The maximum class size is five.
2.2 Class Length – All classes are 55 minutes, unless otherwise agreed for private “Yak One” lessons.
2.3 Platform – Classes are taught using Google Meet.
2.4 Level Changes or Concerns – If you are unhappy with your class or wish to request a level change, please contact Cory at the email above. Yak English cannot guarantee changes, but we will do our best to help.

 

3. Student Responsibilities

 

  • Be on time. Classes cannot and will not be extended for lateness.

  • Work in a quiet environment. Do not take lessons while driving, eating, or in noisy places.

  • Communicate respectfully with the teacher and other students.

  • Speak and engage actively in class but share the time fairly with others.

  • Bring pen, paper, and notes to get the most from your lessons.

  • Homework is optional but strongly encouraged.

4. Copyright and Materials

 

All lesson materials and curriculum are the property of Yak English. Students must not copy, share, record, or distribute materials or classes without written permission.

5. Technology Requirements

 

5.1 A laptop or desktop computer is strongly recommended, as courses are designed for this format.
5.2 You must have a working microphone and camera.
5.3 Cameras must remain on during all classes.
5.4 A Google account is not required but may be helpful.

6. Payments

 

6.1 Payments are made via Wise or PayPal, depending on your country. You may need to create an account to complete payment.
6.2 Your bank or card may charge foreign transaction fees. Yak English is not responsible for these. We recommend using a travel card or debit/credit card with no/low foreign fees.
6.3 If you have difficulty with Wise or PayPal, alternative payment methods may be discussed directly with Yak English.
6.4 Late Payment – Failure to pay on time may result in losing your place in class. Google Meet links are not sent until payment is received.

 

7. Cancellation and No-Show Policy

 

7.1 If Yak English cancels – You are always entitled to a rescheduled class.
7.2 If you cancel with more than 12 hours’ notice – You will not lose the class.
7.3 If you cancel with less than 12 hours’ notice, or do not attend – The class is counted as used.


Example – If you buy a package of 5 lessons and miss your first lesson without the correct notice, you now have 4 classes left. If you cancel 13 hours before, you still have 5 left.


7.4 Emergency Flexibility – Every student is entitled to 1 emergency cancellation per 10 lessons. If you give notice any time before the class starts, you will not lose the class.

 

8. Referral Policy

 

8.1 Once you have signed up and paid, you can refer new students.
8.2 If the new student purchases at least 5 lessons, you receive 1 free class.
8.3 You may earn unlimited rewards (1 free class per referred student).
8.4 Rewards are only activated once the new student has paid.
8.5 No retroactive referrals are allowed. The new student must give your full name on their sign-up form.

9. Privacy and Data Protection

 

Yak English collects basic information (such as your name, email, country, and level) for class administration. Your data is kept securely and never shared with third parties without your consent, except where required by law.

 

10. Safeguarding (Under-18 Students)

 

10.1 Students under 18 must have parental or guardian consent.
10.2 Parents/guardians remain responsible for the student during online classes.
10.3 Yak English will report any safeguarding concerns if necessary.

 

11. Termination

 

11.1 By the Student – You may stop taking classes at any time. However, unused lessons in a package are not refundable.
11.2 By Yak English – We may terminate your classes if necessary (for example, misconduct). In this case, you will receive a refund for any unused lessons.

12. Limitation of Liability

 

12.1 Yak English provides educational services but does not guarantee specific results (such as exam scores).
12.2 We are not responsible for technical failures on your side (e.g., internet, device, or software issues).
12.3 We are not liable for indirect or unexpected losses caused by using our services.

 

These Terms are designed to protect both Yak English and its students. By joining, you confirm that you understand and accept these conditions.
